Self Centered Saturday #2

This post is all about me! Yay!

I just got home from my sister's bridal shower. My mom and I managed to buy the ONLY two duplicate gifts off the registry (well, I guess us and the other people who bought them). Oh well, at least they have receipts.

In other news, I HATE BANKS. I overdrafted last week. I got a letter in the mail last Thursday saying I was at negative $40 (shut up!) and I got paid the same day, deposited my $50 BEFORE 2pm on Friday, and thought nothing of it. The way the bank explained things to me, they said if I deposited any check before 2 on a weekday, it would go through that day, but if it was after it would go through on the next business day. Well today, I got home and found a letter from the bank marked April 8th. It told me my account was at negative $30. Apparently, my check did not go through until Monday and they didn't even put a halt on the overdraft fees over the weekend. I'm pissed, to say the least. Luckily, I had some cash on me and my mom (who can be extremely awesome at times) gave me some more, so I'm going in tomorrow morning and depositing it all. WHY THE HELL DO BANKS CLOSE SO EARLY ON SATURDAYS?!?! UGH UGH UGH. I already called and left a message with customer services, but they'll probably just tell me that I didn't deposit early enough or something stupid like that. It's too bad I'm a minor or I'd switch banks (since I did some research during my econ class and found out that mine is the most expensive). Yuck.

On a lighter note, I'm going to see Ben Folds in concert on the 20th with my friend Erik! I think it will be fun. He and I don't get to hang out very much, so it'll be nice to spend some time with him.

I guess that's all I really have to say right now.

Plaid Poetry Thursday

Plaid Poetry Thursdays are the days when I post whatever I've written for my writing group in school throughout the week. It's Plaid Poetry because my friend Nicole and I always wear plaid on Thursdays and we sometimes write poetry. This week, I had to write a short film. This is a very rough draft, and there are already some revisions in mind, however I figured I'd post the original here and maybe save the revised version for a later post. :) Enjoy!

Two-Sentence Tuesday #1

I think I need to add one more "Theme-Type" day to my week. I've decided to make it TWO-SENTENCE TUESDAYS! Why? Because... I don't know... I probably won't have a lot of time on Tuesdays? It tends to be a day when I like to see The Boyfriend (and then we watch Parenthood!). So... yeah. Here goes.

I slept with my window open last night. It was raining, and when I woke up, I was cold.

Mirthful Monday #1

Hey kids. Today is the first installment of MIRTHFUL MONDAYS! :D How exciting! Now, in case you didn't read the introductory post to the new way I'm going to start doing things (even though it's literally the most recent post, probably directly beneath this one), this is how Mirthful Mondays will work: I will be posting something I find funny and then say a few things about it. The reason behind this is because Mondays are TERRIBLE and I'd like to make them a little less terrible for anyone who reads this.

Wheezy Waiter is this guy named Craig who does a vlog (video blog for those of you who aren't hip to today's internet lingo). He is from Chicago (woot!) and he is quite hilarious. He's been doing them for almost 3 years and recently, I've been going through, trying to watch every episode from start to current. (I've had a lot of time on my hands this week.) The Wheezy Waiter seems to be a little crazy (but in a good way). I know he posts these videos on youtube (which is what the above link goes to), but I believe he also has a blog somewhere. If you're really that interested, you'll be able to find it easily, I'm sure.

Feeling Inspired

(Sorry, this post is going to be a long, informative one... Get ready...)

I think I'm going to start re-working this blog. I've got some ideas and I think they're going to work out well. I mean, I write a LOT, especially for school, and yet I struggle to update this blog for whatever reason so I figure if I give myself "rules," so to speak, maybe it'll be easier.

On Mondays, I will post something funny because MONDAYS SUCK. Perhaps something like a "Joke of the Week?" Or a terrible website (i.e. ManBabies.com or TackyWeddings.com). Or a funny YouTube video or something else. Something to make you fine folks chuckle.

On Thursdays, I will post whatever it is that I've written this week for the indie study I'm in. If it's long, I might see if I can figure out how to hide the text behind a link that will take you to the post itself... I know that LiveJournal has a feature like that, but I'm not so sure about Blogger. We shall see. In addition, I will not be adding new things to my "art" blog anymore, since they'll probably be up here.

Since this is MY blog, I think I'll do whatever I feel like on Saturdays. It'll most likely be something about my life (which will hopefully get more interesting in the next few months as high school wraps up, I go to Anime Central, and my sister gets married).

I may/may not start video blogging every once in a while. Can't decide whether or not it seems worthless at this point.

Here's my first attempt at vlogging... It's nothing great, but it's a start... (Please go easy on me! Haha)



I think I might also look to get some more readership, since I don't want to be doing all this for no one or very few people (thank you if you do actually read this!).

I guess this concludes... Saturday post #1? Hmm... No, I think maybe I need like "names" or whatever so that I can tag the posts so that they'll all be together when they start to pile up.

FunDay Monday? Nah, that sounds lame... How about Mirthful Monday? That is a fun word.

I FAIL.

Life has been busy lately... well, that and I've been consumed by Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. Finally beat them both. Yay!

So... let's see... my weekend.

Friday: (No school) Hung out with my ex (who I dated for a month, so no biggie). He wanted to "catch up." Really random. We got coffee and it was pretty decent. After that, went to a show with The Boyfriend. His friends' band was playing. They are AWESOME. ♥

Saturday: Went shopping with the girls. I found a dress that was originally $109 for $15!!! :D It was one of the dresses I thought about getting for Christmas Banquet, so I bought it and I might wear it for graduation! Finished ME2. Got dinner with The Boyfriend and his cousin, who is awesome.

Sunday: Made lunch/dinner with mom and had Grandpa, The Boyfriend, Aunt and her new BF over. He's a nice fellow. :)

So that's my life as of late. Been writing a lot, which is sweet. Uhh... nothing else to speak of right now?

Happy Valentine's Day! :)

I baked a heart-shaped cake yesterday. The problem is that I had no eggs, so I had to find an egg-less recipe and it turned out OK but also kind of gross. I dunno. I put some icing on it (coffee flavored but I can't even taste the coffee, which is fine I guess) but I did it when the cake was too hot (told ya, mom) so it kinda separated so it looks like I barfed all over the cake (did I mention that I made the icing pink?). I put sprinkles on top to make it less ugly but it's still pretty bad... I hope it tastes okay.

I'm feeling resourceful so I'll probably end up making something today... just not sure what, yet. I think I feel like coloring so maybe I'll print out something and color it for The Boyfriend, like a storybook page or something. (Yes, it sounds REALLY stupid but it would be fun and I think he'd find it cute.)

Anyone have any big plans for today? Valentine's or Single's Appreciation Day, I mean. (I celebrated that my sophomore and freshman years of HS.)

Next week, I think I will pretend to be Louise Glück.

Then, hopefully, I'll pretend to be me... Err, I mean I will be me. ;)

So Anders Loves Maria ended. :( Sad day. (Don't worry, that link goes to the very first one so you don't have to worry about spoilers if you're interested in reading it.)

The Superbowl is today... which is pretty fun, since I'll see all my friends and we will watch 10 Things I Hate About You, the same as every year. It's funny to think that I was there when that tradition started and... in a way, the tradition ends today. It's not like we'll be able to get together on Superbowl Sunday anymore... maybe after college. I hope so. I guess I'll just say that the tradition will be postponed after today.

What else? I'm surprising The Boyfriend by taking him to ______ __ _____ for Valentine's Day. (If you want to know, IM/facebook/whatever me, since I don't know if he has the link to this and I don't want to risk it.)

I hung out with my friend John yesterday. It was a lot of fun. We went to lunch at Steak & Shake and then back to my house to play ODST. We made inside jokes (crap-pie/seepage and leakage) and have decided we HAVE to keep hanging out. Also he made my couch smell good, haha.

Went to see Up In the Air last night. It was decent but not amazing. The acting was Oscar-worthy but the movie itself was relatively average.

Crazy Writing Project is over. It was difficult but fun. I'm thinking I'm going to come up with new CWPs from time to time and keep them in the same notebook.

p.s. I forgot to mention that the tree in my front yard got cut down yesterday. I was/am really upset. I was thinking it over, and I believe it made me so sad because it's the one thing in my life that's never changed. It's always been there and it's the only thing that's remained stable for me. I could count on it. But now it's gone and that's that.

Sorry for not posting lately. I've been busy, I've not been online much, and I just haven't really felt like it.

BUT, MY FRIENDS, THAT IS GOING TO CHANGE.

Want to know something? Next week, I'm gonna do something crazy. From Monday through Friday, I'm going to write a paragraph for every waking hour. And I've asked 10 people to keep me accountable. It's gonna be ridiculous. I think I might post some of those up here, but they're all going to start out handwritten. :)

So what's new? What's happened lately? Well I went to France and Spain for two weeks. It was the most amazing experience of my life. Barcelona is probably the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Montserrat was INCREDIBLE. I don't know what else to say about my trip. I wrote in a journal almost every day, so I may end up posting some of that here... we'll see.

I turned 17 on January 8th. WOOO. For my birthday, I got an orange iPod nano from my parents and tickets to go see The Blanks from The Boyfriend. If you've seen the show Scrubs, you probably know who the character Ted is. If you've seen enough of the show, then you know that Ted is in an A Capella group. In real life, Sam Lloyd (Ted) is in an A Capella group called The Blanks.



I'm the only girl in the picture (duh). The Boyfriend is the one in the brown coat. Sam Lloyd is the guy next to him, and we are standing with the rest of The Blanks. The man standing next to me is named Philip (I think?). He saw me come up for an autograph and this happened:

Philip: Wow, you are gorgeous!
Me: Oh thanks!
Philip: You really dressed up for our show! Your dress is so cool!
Me: Oh yeah, I got it in France.
Philip: *laughs* ... Wait, seriously?
Me: Yep.
Philip: Wow, cool! Way to bring a little class to the show!

So that was fun. I like being called pretty/having my fashion taste complimented by complete strangers. (I know, it's creepy in some situations but this was totally normal and nice.)

School started up again last Wednesday. I'm now a part of a writing group with 3 other students and my Creative Writing teacher from last semester. We write stuff all week and on Thursdays (since we do block schedule in which classes are 90 minutes and lunch is about an hour), we go off campus for lunch and read our stuff and talk about it and such. Today was our first outing, and I have to say, it was my second-favorite high school lunch ever (my first-favorite being the potluck we had at the end of my junior year). I can only hope that they just get better! :D Totally amazing (and part of the reason why I want to take on the crazy task I described at the start of this post).

So that's my life right now.

UGHUGHUGH I fail at keeping this updated.

I've just been busy the last couple of weeks... getting ready for the end of the semester, Christmas, France... so many things to get ready for! But my preparation process is nearly over, which is nice. I only have a couple more people to shop for and I only have 1 more France trip meeting and I only have 1 more paper to write/turn in and then poof, I'm all done. Christmas banquet is Thursday night, after finals are all over and done with. I'm so excited!!! It's gonna be amazing, but I guess a little sad since it will be my last one... that is, unless I come back as an alumnus. :D I just love dressing up and eating fancy food and having general Christmassy fun with my friends. They're great people and we're going to look like movie stars.

We're also doing our Secret Santa gift-giving that night, which should be fun. I hope my friend likes what I got her. :)

My sister is home from Georgia! I think I will try and hang out with her tomorrow, since I don't have to go into school. That would be optimal.

What else... Webcomics have gone crazy as of late. (Not all bad, just a weird mixture of lack of updates and HUGE plot developments and general weirdness within all the comics I read.)

OH P.S I GOT A HAIRCUT BUT I HAVE NO PICTURES OF IT. YAAAY. (it's really cute!)

Depressing thought: I don't have a pair of snowpants.

I tried to find one my Freshman year but I couldn't, and now, here I am, a senior, still without snowpants! OH THE HUMANITY!

Christmas decorations are up in my house. We have lots of multi-colored lights up everywhere. It looks nice... and tacky... but I like it that way. :) Tacky decorations are what Christmas is all about, right? Right. Good.

First of all, let it be known that I'm wearing my Snuggie while I type this. :)

I got this letter in the mail today from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. Apparently I've been named a 2010-11 State Scholar. They give this title to people who have a good ACT/SAT score and who have gotten good grades during high school. I guess it's supposed to help with college apps and scholarships... to bad they didn't give me the award BEFORE I started applying at places. Oh well, I at least got to include it on my app to Augustana. :)

I haven't been blogging lately. I think I just go through phases of blogging and not blogging, so don't be alarmed if I disappear for 2 months, then suddenly start posting every day. It's just something I tend to do, I think.

Nothing new as of late. The Boyfriend is still wonderful. :) We're all back to normal and I think happier than ever. I really feel like he's the person I'm meant to be with, if not forever then at least for now.

It snowed today! AHHH! WINTER IS HERE!!!

I went to Georgia from Saturday through Tuesday (by which I mean we drove down Saturday, spent 2 days there and drove back Tuesday). It was nice. I got to see my sister's senior art exhibition. It was incredible. I'm so proud to call her my sister, seriously. She's great.

This guy started talking to me on facebook. I met him a looong time ago at my friend's house, 'cause he was hanging out with her brother. Well, he just added me like a week or two ago and started talking to me, trying to flirt (calling me cute, etc.) and such. We talk a little bit but I definitely don't flirt back, haha. He's kinda weird. Apparently no one likes him (I know it sounds really mean). Everyone I know who knows him says he's a douchebag, or he's annoying, or talks about how he cost them/their family a bunch of money for x amount of things. They all say I shouldn't talk to him, but I'm not going to not talk to someone just 'cause other people talk badly about them. I've had that done to me before. I've had people gossiping about how much of a slut I supposedly was when they'd probably never heard my name a week before and had definitely never met me. So no, I'm not going to judge him off of what other people say. I'll figure it out for myself.

I dunno what else to say right now... my fingers are cold, haha. Night night, everyone.

I've been lazy with blogging lately. I haven't really been reading that often and I haven't been posting much. I guess I've just been busy and haven't had much to post about anyway. Bleh.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow. Huzzah! I'm going out for Irish food tonight as a pre-Thanksgiving feast with the fam. Not entirely sure why, haha. Oh well. It'll be fun and yummy. :)

Last night, I slept over at my friend Lauryn's and our friend Bryan came with his gf Cori and her friend Julia, and Maggie came, and I brought The Boyfriend, so it was just a party. We baked things and ate pizza. :) The best part was that Cori and Julia slept over, which is a first. We are becoming friends! I am a happy camper. They are both soooooo awesome. Too bad Maggie couldn't stay the night. :( Oh wells, next time fo sho.

Meh, not much else to post about. Sims 3: World Adventures is awesome. That's about it.

Movietickets.com is down. WTF? Why are you undergoing "routine maintenance" at 6:50 on a Friday night?!?!? Stupid.

I moved to a different desk (my old one was in the corner and it is now torn down and this one is where my mom's desktop used to be but she doesn't use it anymore so here I am, with my computer in this big hutch against the wall). I really don't like it. I really don't want to have my computer at this position. It displeases me. I just want to go back to being in the corner. (What a freak.)

Hello hello hello.

I went to the mall all by myself yesterday! It was very exciting. I managed to blow almost the entirety of my first paycheck (which, admittedly, was not a huge sum of money, but still...), however at least 1/2 of it was on stuff I actually needed. And the other half was bargain shopping, so I don't feel bad about any of it. :) I also pre-ordered The Sims 3: World Adventures which I will hopefully be able to pick up from the store on Tuesday (since I believe that's the day it comes out).

I'm thinking of driving up to The Boyfriend's dad's house today, if he wants me to. His dad has to work from 12 to 5 so he is just stuck at the house doing nothing (as far as I know). Since it won't be rush-hour, I think it's only like a 35 minute drive. Normally I wouldn't do this, I'd just wait 'til Sunday to see him, but I haven't seen him since I think Tuesday so... yeah. We shall see if that works out.

Did I mention my new markers? They are all pretty and fancy and I loooove them. :) There are 18 of them and they are called "art markers" and they have 2 different tips and I loooove them. I think they're like cheap Prismacolors, if you know what those are. Not quite as fancy. I needed some for a special poster that I was making (more about that later!) and they were on sale and everything! YAAAAAY, MARKERS!

Not much else to say... Oh, I ran out of parts for the assembly job I do at home so I haven't been able to work the past few nights. JUST IN CASE YOU WANTED TO KNOW THAT.
