Self Centered Saturday #8

Hey. It's been a while. I went to Colorado so I couldn't post for like 5 days. Today was the next day to post in my little schedule thing.

Anyway... I graduate from high school tomorrow. This is so weird. I can't believe it's happening. Right now, I'm burning mix CDs for my gals to go with their little present bags. I hope they like them. I tried to pick songs that were celebratory or encouraging about the future. I have to say, I think it's a pretty awesome mix. I'll probably burn one for myself. It's as long as could fit on a CD. :)

What else... Well, there's really nothing else. It almost feels like a normal night... but not quite. Tomorrow, I will wake up, get in the car and head to my friend's house for a party. After that, I will drive home, get dressed for graduation, and drive to my school (hopefully, unless it rains, in which case I'll be driving to a local church). I'll get in a line and then sit for a while and receive a diploma and then I'll get to eat snacks. It's all so surreal. I cannot believe it.

Well... I suppose that's all I really have to say right now. I might post about Colorado sometime soon. We shall see.

After tomorrow, I'll officially be a high school graduate!!!

No Plaid Poetry Thursday today. I haven't written anything and I've been a little busy. So sorry.

Mirthful Monday #8

Today, I had a sub in French class. My teacher is currently in France. She's missing my last two days of high school, but she'll be back for graduation. Anyway, during French, we were supposed to be working on computers on this thing we use called TellMeMore. It's this really stupid website where you do little games and exercises in order to "learn" more of another language. The problem is that it doesn't really work. On top of that, it wouldn't matter if I did anything in class or not, since my grades are already pretty much sealed. Instead of doing TellMeMore (it's like the Mavis Beacon of foreign language), I decided to surf the interwebs.

That little diddy led us to what I find mirthful today... Number 1, not doing what you're supposed to be doing in class. Nuber 2, MyLifeIsAverage.com.

That's right. For some reason, even though my school blocks almost every single fun website, it doesn't block MLIA or FML or any of those other sites. I, personally, like MLIA the best, but some of the others are funny, too.

My Life Is Average is basically where people post short descriptions of "average" things that happen in their daily lives. Most of the time, things are just plain silly, and that's what I love about them.

Here's to hoping that MLIA and similar sites can help make your Monday a little better.

Off the calendar

I have to get some stuff off my chest, and this is the only place that seems OK enough to do it. I'll probably just make this tomorrow's entry anyway.

Most of my friendships are falling apart. I feel like there's no one I can totally trust anymore. There's no one for me to rely on, at least not within my circle of friends at school. I have my best friend, who is always there for me, and The Boyfriend, who is just amazing... but it kills me to think that the people with whom I spend the most time are the people who are just going CRAZY right now. Everyone talks behind each others backs. When things get planned, they fall through 85% of the time. My group of friends is starting to split off into mini-groups and it's really starting to suck. Might as well just forget it all and start over this fall. New place, new friends, right?

Great way to end senior year, right?

Plaid Poetry Thursday #7

A student from my school just passed away, this morning or last night, not really sure. He'd been battling with cancer for a while, and although we thought he was in remission, he left us for a better place. A couple of teachers read this poem today. I thought it would be appropriate to post here, as well, even though I didn't write it. It's by John Donne.

"DEATH be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so,
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleepe, which but thy pictures bee,
Much pleasure, then from thee, much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee doe goe,
Rest of their bones, and soules deliverie.
Thou art slave to Fate, Chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poyson, warre, and sicknesse dwell,
And poppie, or charmes can make us sleepe as well,
And better then thy stroake; why swell'st thou then;
One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die."

Rest in peace, Matt. Can't wait to see you again someday.

Two Sentence Tuesday #6

My Hamlet video is finally done. Also, things are getting too dramatic.

May 17, 2010

Mirthful Monday #7

Oh hay, it's Monday again.

Something I really enjoy is reading webcomics. I currently read 6 that update regularly, but there are 5 more that are either finished or have a sporadic update schedule which I also enjoy.

I really like webcomics because I get to see a little bit of a long story develop every day or at least every week. I also like seeing illustrations that go with the stories I read. Each author is a little bit different, as is every story. Some webcomics are more autobiographical, while others are entirely fictional. Most of the ones I read are pretty funny. Some have more profound moments, while others are just plain silly.

Here is a list of all the regularly updating comics I read:
1) Questionable Content (Fictional, well-drawn, funny, good plot and characters)
2) Johnny Wander (Autobiographical with some fiction, cute art, funny)
3) xkcd (Fictional standalones for the most part. Stick figures, but very consistent. Funny and smart)
4) Pictures for Sad Children (Fictional, some stories and some standalones. Funny but in a very dry way. Sometimes hard to understand.)
5) Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (I think all standalones? OK art but VERY funny)
6) Orneryboy (Fictional but based on the author and his lady, follows a storyline, nice art, some fun flash bits thrown in, funny, angsty.)

The other comics, which are either over or update strangely, are:
1) Anders Loves Maria (Ended. Beautiful plot and art. Fairly dramatic but fantastic.)
2) Bear and Kitten (Almost a year of unannounced hiatus. By far the cutest webcomic I've ever seen. It's a bear and a kitten who live together, and I think they love each other but never officially. I really want this to come back!)
3) lolbots (Irregular updates. Cute shorts, based on the comic Diesel Sweeties, which I've tried, unsuccessfully, to read through. Funny but there aren't a lot of them.)
4) Just a Bit Off... (he's been super busy, understandable update weirdness. Fairly autobiographical, interesting art style. Takes the story of a pretty regular guy and makes it humorous and fun to read)
5) So Far Apart (from the author of ALM and her boyfriend. It's too new to see how the update schedule is going to work out, but it's about their long-distance relationship. It seems interesting, and I know I at least like 1/2 the art)

I used to read one called The Purple Hills Afar. It was about adorable bears who went on adventures and loved baked beans. The authors announced a month-long vacation, and after a few months without updates, the website suddenly disappeared, nothing but an unused domain name. I have since been unable to relocate the comic. I hope it comes back someday!

Sorry that this post was a little long... and also fragmented. I wasn't really sure how I wanted to write it so it came out all jumbled. Anyway, here's to hoping you find something new and brighten your Monday, since we all know that Mondays SUCK.

Self Centered Saturday #7

Apparently, there's going to be a Sims movie. I can't find much info about it. Allegedly there was some form of plot explanation on imdb, but I can't access it now because I don't want to fork over the cash for imdb pro. From what I've read, it looks like it will be about some kids/teens in a town called Pleasantville who find a game called "Sims:Infinity Pack" or something along those lines and decide to play it, but they don't realize that what they do on the computer controls what happens in real life. This isn't a new concept to movies, but still, I have to wonder what it will be like (if it even happens at all). All I can see on imdb now is that it's scheduled for release sometime in 2012.

I wonder if this is actually going to happen. Part of me wants to see it, but at the same time, I'm sure it's going to be awful. Still, I'll always love The Sims series.

What else?... Tonight is my schools Jr/Sr banquet. It's basically prom without dancing. After Jr/Sr, my friends and I are taking a limo to a boat for a post-prom type thing. I think there will be dancing on the boat. I don't get to bring The Boyfriend to Jr/Sr but he's coming on the boat with me, so all is well in my opinion. :) I'm pretty excited.

At the same time, I'm worried about drama. Nothing has happened, but some of my friends have been acting sort of on-edge lately, and I'm worried that something bad is going to happen tonight. I hope that's not the case. One of the biggest benefits of being out of high school will be significantly less drama. (No, I don't have experience with college, so I can't say there won't be any drama in college, however I'm POSITIVE it's got to be less than the stuff that goes on in a private high school with about 650 students.)

Not really much else to post. I think I'll play Sims for a little while.

Plaid Poetry Thursday #6

I'm working on a couple poems that are meant to go side by side. I haven't done any revisions and I just wrote them today... so here they are.

1. Davis

I just found out that
I have a great grandma.
No, actually I had one.
I never met her, and I never will.
She died yesterday,
Or the day before.
After 92 years, she’s gone and I’ll never get her back,
Even though she never was mine to begin with.
I have to wonder,
Was her hair white?
Were her fingernails long and painted blue
To match that eyeshadow she always wore?
Did she love photography?
Do I look like her?
I like to think she was kind,
And maybe she loved me, or at least
The idea of me.
Maybe she had an old picture of me in a frame
Sitting on that ancient piano
Which all great grandmas own.
Maybe those birthday cards just got lost in the mail.
You can’t blame the mailman for dropping things in January, after all.
“She lived a good life,” they said,
But what does that even mean?
Did my father like her?
I guess I’ll never know,
But I like to think that Great-Grandma Davis
Thought about me sometimes.

2. Ina
There was this woman once,
She was tall and old,
But she wasn’t frail
And she wore a platinum blonde wig.
She knew how to cha-cha dance,
But not like everyone else,
And all the women in the family can do it too,
But not as well.
She never said hello. She said,
“Hallooooooo,”
The same shrill way we all do.
She had this way about her,
Much like the other grandmothers,
But never too sweet.
If anyone said, “So,”
She would reply,
“So, so, suck your toe all the way to Mexico.
While you’re there, comb your hair
And don’t forget your underwear.”
She was always proud to be a Harju.
This old woman knew how to sew,
And she did it with class.
I still have that white dress
With the strawberries,
Even though it will never again fit me;
Even though my sister wore it first.
And when I look in that mirror
She passed on to me when I was 6,
I see Ina in me.

Two Sentence Tuesday #5

Today, I (along with a good friend and another really awesome girl from school) wrote out a whole bunch of things on a white board table (this makes sense, right?) of what we, as seniors, would like to say to freshman. I'm feeling pretty proud of that list and how far I've come in the last four years.

Mirthful Monday #6

Hey kids. Since it's the middle of May, I figured an entry on something I thoroughly enjoy would be appropriate. That something? Getting dressed up.

There's something about putting on a pretty dress, doing my hair and makeup all nice, and hanging out with a bunch of awesome people who have done generally the same thing that just makes me really happy. I went to prom on Friday. It was a lot of fun, and I got to wear a sweet dress that my friend (very kindly!) offered to let me borrow. It worked out really well. I thank God for giving me a BFF who is about the same size and shape as I am. It was really fun to get all dolled up and go out and eat a fancy dinner and dance with The Boyfriend, who was looking fantastic (as usual) in his tux (HIS tux, not a rented one, mind you). And now I can say that I own a pair of hoop earrings!

Since I go to a different school than The Boyfriend, I basically have twice the opportunities for dressing up than normal. This Saturday is my school's "prom," which is really called Junior/Senior Banquet. The juniors decorate the commons in our school (looks like a smallish gym but is used as the cafeteria at lunch) and then all the juniors and seniors dress up and eat together and the sophomores serve and entertain. The teachers say cute things and do skits and we all have a fantastic time. Sadly, The Boyfriend can't go because no outside-of-schoolers are allowed, however I still plan to have a blast. I have this FANTASTIC dress from the 80s (literally) that I can't wait to wear! I'll try and post pictures at some point.

Anyway, here's to getting all dolled up with your friends and having a great time! (Also, going out and doing something after, while still dressed up, is really awesome. We went laser tagging after prom, and I've gone bowling in a long dress for events in the past. Whee!)

Hopefully this made you smile, and maybe it made your Monday a little happier. Anyone else excited for prom/etc? Or has anyone already gone?

This is gonna be a short one. I'm totally exhausted. Prom was yesterday and I was up til 4am because of that. We went laser tagging and to Denny's after, haha. Super fun. I came in 2nd out of the 8 of us in laser tagging!! :D Pretty cool, not gonna lie.

I spent the day with The Boyfriend today. We went shopping and hung out at his house. Good times. Tomorrow is Mother's Day, which is partially what we shopped for, and I'm hoping his mom likes her present. I know my mommy will like hers. My dad and I are making her breakfast and then I'm giving her this thing I made for her in ceramics and then my dad said his present is just gonna be moolah for me to take her shopping if that's what she wants to do with it, or whatever else, I suppose. Should be fun. :)

"It's the middle of the day and they're both practically naked. She's bangin' him."

I'm watching SVU and I thought that was a funny sounding quote.

Alright, I'm done. Have a good one, kids.

Hey, kids.

I've posted some jokes and some things I find funny, but today I'd like to post something that just makes me smile. It might seem really cheesy, but it's a great site and it definitely resonates with me. The site is called 1000 Awesome Things. You've probably/maybe heard of it. Basically, the person who writes it writes about things in life that are... well... awesome. For example, a recent entry on this site is all about dancing when you're home alone. I consider this to be a very awesome thing. I think the writer started at 1000 and is counting down... I wonder what will happen once he reaches 1... maybe he'll just start over. Here's to hoping that Neil (the writer) never runs out of awesome things to write about, and also to your Monday getting a little bit better. :)

Hello all!

I started a formspring account a while ago. It's that website where people ask you questions (anonymously or not) and then you answer (or choose not to answer if it's stupid). If you wanna ask me a question, here be the URL: http://www.formspring.me/Pamplemousse93 .

My friend Maggie had her birthday party here last night. It was lots of fun. :) I think she enjoyed herself. Happy 19th on Monday, Mags! Love ya!

I STILL haven't watched Parenthood this week. I'm a nice girlfriend and have waited to watch it until The Boyfriend and I could watch it together. Hopefully, that will be today. Waiting is driving me CRAZY. I like that show a lot.

There are officially 3 weeks of high school left for me. After those 3 weeks, I'll have 3 days of finals, then 5 days of a senior trip, and then graduation. Oh my gosh. This is crazy. I honestly can't believe I'm almost done with high school. I can guarantee I'm going to start bawling at graduation... I almost started crying today when my mom and I were talking about it. Wow.

Not much else to say. By the way, how are you all feeling about high school? If you're like me, are you going to miss it? If you're still a junior or below, how's it going? If you're out of high school, what was it like to leave and go to college/life/etc?

Plaid Poetry Thursday #4

Firstly, sorry I missed Tuesday this week. It was my grandma's birthday, who passed away quite a few years ago. My grandpa likes to take my mom, aunt, and me out to dinner on April 27th in her memory. I figured I'd just skip it this week since it's not like Tuesdays are a big deal anyway.

So... I didn't write anything new for my indie study this week... Well, that's a lie. I wrote a piece, but didn't work much on it and we ended up working with the video class on our short films today instead of looking at pieces... I guess I can post what I started working on and I'll show you some progress once it gets edited a bit. Mmkay.

(This, like basically everything else I write, is still untitled)

An old man leans back in his chair,
Eyes half-shut, mouth half-open.
“I’ve been carting around a guy from Nigeria all week.”
He has bright, white hair and thick, square glasses
That hang from his neck on a string.
“Have you ever seen a bull fight?”
The old man’s shirt pocket sags under the weight
Of his rusty old pocket protector.
“You know, there’s a kidnapper in the area.”
His hand sits idly on the table,
But his knees are always shaking.
“Please, call me Roaring K Slider Boom. Or Jack.”

The deep wrinkles around his pale blue eyes curve up,
And he grins.
The first time I saw her, I said, “Wow, man. Wow.”

So yeah, that's all I have for you. Woooo.

Oh hay. So Ben Folds was amazing. Unfortunately, I didn't bring in my camera, so the only pictures I have of the show are from my phone. I'll see if I can get them on my computer at some point.

Hmm... I got to hang out with the best friend yesterday. She is insane but I like her that way. :) WOOT.

I'm discovering more and more that some of the people I know are really bitchy. Like, REALLY. Especially when they don't get their way. I dunno, I guess that's just how some people are, right? Anyway, my friends are amazing and suchly so I guess it's all good.

I'm going to be LAZY today and play Sims until tonight, when there is this thing at my school where a bunch of the senior boys put on a talent show. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go to that. I have at least one friend who is in it, so I'd like to see his act, but also there are some really funny/talented fellas performing so it should be fun. Just gotta get the moolah to go. (I was a dummy and deposited all my cash into the bank yesterday, not thinking I should hold back $10 for the thing tonight. Whoops.)

I think that's all I really have to say about myself for today.

Plaid Poetry Thursday #3

Sorry it's late! I've been super busy the last two days so I haven't really had a lot of time for the internets.

Anyway, I went to a Ben Folds show on Tuesday. This was the result. (Not really my best work, but with some editing, it might turn out alright.)

Outlined in indigo

It’s a very dark room,
But the platform is bright and the piano’s outline
Is indigo.
He sits behind the Yamaha,
Indigo-outlined just the same,
And he sways and jumps and wails
and pounds on those keys
as though we are his best friends
and he wants these moments to count.
We’ve known him for so many years.
This is our Christmas morning,
When he gives out the best presents
And all we can do is watch and smile and wish for just one more.
He basks in every moment,
When all of us are standing still,
Aching for that next line, next note,
And even when some guy yells
“Sellout!”
His only response is
“What?” and then he goes on playing,
As though the word has no meaning in his world.
Why should it?

Hey kids. I know this is rather old, but it makes me laugh.

You should click here for the funny thing!

It's the dramatic reading of a break up letter. It's hysterical. This girl basically wrote this letter to her ex... I want to laugh at her, because it's written SO poorly, but from what she said, it seems like her ex is pretty ridiculous as well. They were probably just 14 at the time. (I don't get why "chris" was at breakfast with her and her little brother, though...)

Here's to hoping that your Monday got a little brighter.

Self Centered Saturday #3

Sorry for not ACTUALLY posting this on Saturday.

I spent the weekend at my friend Lauryn's house. We partied it up. I didn't feel like updating my blog from her computer since I didn't know how long it would take, so I'm just doing it today instead of yesterday.

It was really nice to have a weekend away from home. Her parents were gone for the weekend and she doesn't like being alone in her house, so it worked out well for me to just stay there Friday night (along with our other friend, Maggie). Well, Maggie left on Saturday morning, but I stayed for a while and we ended up just hanging out all day and going out and having fun last night. :) Lots of good music and funtimes. Plus there were some cuties who made googly eyes at us, which was fun. Woot.

I had dreams about college last night. It was really strange. It didn't look like the college I'm going to, but I know it was. The dorms were like cabins, with 4 or 6 bunk beds. It was strange. Nothing really interesting happened.

The Boyfriend spent the weekend at his dad's house, which also worked out well for the hanging with Lauryn time. Not that I didn't want to see him, but it was nice not to have to worry about double-planning or whatever. It was just us gals (plus two of our male friends for a little while on Friday).

Uhh... I guess that's pretty much it!

Self Centered Saturday #2

This post is all about me! Yay!

I just got home from my sister's bridal shower. My mom and I managed to buy the ONLY two duplicate gifts off the registry (well, I guess us and the other people who bought them). Oh well, at least they have receipts.

In other news, I HATE BANKS. I overdrafted last week. I got a letter in the mail last Thursday saying I was at negative $40 (shut up!) and I got paid the same day, deposited my $50 BEFORE 2pm on Friday, and thought nothing of it. The way the bank explained things to me, they said if I deposited any check before 2 on a weekday, it would go through that day, but if it was after it would go through on the next business day. Well today, I got home and found a letter from the bank marked April 8th. It told me my account was at negative $30. Apparently, my check did not go through until Monday and they didn't even put a halt on the overdraft fees over the weekend. I'm pissed, to say the least. Luckily, I had some cash on me and my mom (who can be extremely awesome at times) gave me some more, so I'm going in tomorrow morning and depositing it all. WHY THE HELL DO BANKS CLOSE SO EARLY ON SATURDAYS?!?! UGH UGH UGH. I already called and left a message with customer services, but they'll probably just tell me that I didn't deposit early enough or something stupid like that. It's too bad I'm a minor or I'd switch banks (since I did some research during my econ class and found out that mine is the most expensive). Yuck.

On a lighter note, I'm going to see Ben Folds in concert on the 20th with my friend Erik! I think it will be fun. He and I don't get to hang out very much, so it'll be nice to spend some time with him.

I guess that's all I really have to say right now.

Plaid Poetry Thursday

Plaid Poetry Thursdays are the days when I post whatever I've written for my writing group in school throughout the week. It's Plaid Poetry because my friend Nicole and I always wear plaid on Thursdays and we sometimes write poetry. This week, I had to write a short film. This is a very rough draft, and there are already some revisions in mind, however I figured I'd post the original here and maybe save the revised version for a later post. :) Enjoy!

Oh and I'm sorry if the formatting is kind of weird. I copied & pasted off of MS Word and Blogger didn't seem to like it much.

I think I need to add one more "Theme-Type" day to my week. I've decided to make it TWO-SENTENCE TUESDAYS! Why? Because... I don't know... I probably won't have a lot of time on Tuesdays? It tends to be a day when I like to see The Boyfriend (and then we watch Parenthood!). So... yeah. Here goes.

I slept with my window open last night. It was raining, and when I woke up, I was cold.

Mirthful Monday #1

Hey kids. Today is the first installment of MIRTHFUL MONDAYS! :D How exciting! Now, in case you didn't read the introductory post to the new way I'm going to start doing things (even though it's literally the most recent post, probably directly beneath this one), this is how Mirthful Mondays will work: I will be posting something I find funny and then say a few things about it. The reason behind this is because Mondays are TERRIBLE and I'd like to make them a little less terrible for anyone who reads this.

Link: Wheezy Waiter

Wheezy Waiter is this guy named Craig who does a vlog (video blog for those of you who aren't hip to today's internet lingo). He is from Chicago (woot!) and he is quite hilarious. He's been doing them for almost 3 years and recently, I've been going through, trying to watch every episode from start to current. (I've had a lot of time on my hands this week.) The Wheezy Waiter seems to be a little crazy (but in a good way). I know he posts these videos on youtube (which is what the above link goes to), but I believe he also has a blog somewhere. If you're really that interested, you'll be able to find it easily, I'm sure.

Here's to hoping your Monday sucks a little less!

p.s. OHMAHGAH I actually made a vlog attempt. It's in the last post, since it makes more sense there... uh.. yeah.

Feeling Inspired

(Sorry, this post is going to be a long, informative one... Get ready...)

I think I'm going to start re-working this blog. I've got some ideas and I think they're going to work out well. I mean, I write a LOT, especially for school, and yet I struggle to update this blog for whatever reason so I figure if I give myself "rules," so to speak, maybe it'll be easier.

On Mondays, I will post something funny because MONDAYS SUCK. Perhaps something like a "Joke of the Week?" Or a terrible website (i.e. ManBabies.com or TackyWeddings.com). Or a funny YouTube video or something else. Something to make you fine folks chuckle.

On Thursdays, I will post whatever it is that I've written this week for the indie study I'm in. If it's long, I might see if I can figure out how to hide the text behind a link that will take you to the post itself... I know that LiveJournal has a feature like that, but I'm not so sure about Blogger. We shall see. In addition, I will not be adding new things to my "art" blog anymore, since they'll probably be up here.

Since this is MY blog, I think I'll do whatever I feel like on Saturdays. It'll most likely be something about my life (which will hopefully get more interesting in the next few months as high school wraps up, I go to Anime Central, and my sister gets married).

I may/may not start video blogging every once in a while. Can't decide whether or not it seems worthless at this point.

Here's my first attempt at vlogging... It's nothing great, but it's a start... (Please go easy on me! Haha)

I think I might also look to get some more readership, since I don't want to be doing all this for no one or very few people (thank you if you do actually read this!).

I guess this concludes... Saturday post #1? Hmm... No, I think maybe I need like "names" or whatever so that I can tag the posts so that they'll all be together when they start to pile up.

FunDay Monday? Nah, that sounds lame... How about Mirthful Monday? That is a fun word.
Plaid Poetry Thursday (I'll explain later if I haven't already)
Self-Centered Saturday!

So this concludes Self-Centered Saturday #1.

I FAIL.

Life has been busy lately... well, that and I've been consumed by Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. Finally beat them both. Yay!

So... let's see... my weekend.

Friday: (No school) Hung out with my ex (who I dated for a month, so no biggie). He wanted to "catch up." Really random. We got coffee and it was pretty decent. After that, went to a show with The Boyfriend. His friends' band was playing. They are AWESOME. ♥

Saturday: Went shopping with the girls. I found a dress that was originally $109 for $15!!! :D It was one of the dresses I thought about getting for Christmas Banquet, so I bought it and I might wear it for graduation! Finished ME2. Got dinner with The Boyfriend and his cousin, who is awesome.

Sunday: Made lunch/dinner with mom and had Grandpa, The Boyfriend, Aunt and her new BF over. He's a nice fellow. :)

So that's my life as of late. Been writing a lot, which is sweet. Uhh... nothing else to speak of right now?

Peace out

Happy Valentine's Day! :)

I baked a heart-shaped cake yesterday. The problem is that I had no eggs, so I had to find an egg-less recipe and it turned out OK but also kind of gross. I dunno. I put some icing on it (coffee flavored but I can't even taste the coffee, which is fine I guess) but I did it when the cake was too hot (told ya, mom) so it kinda separated so it looks like I barfed all over the cake (did I mention that I made the icing pink?). I put sprinkles on top to make it less ugly but it's still pretty bad... I hope it tastes okay.

I'm feeling resourceful so I'll probably end up making something today... just not sure what, yet. I think I feel like coloring so maybe I'll print out something and color it for The Boyfriend, like a storybook page or something. (Yes, it sounds REALLY stupid but it would be fun and I think he'd find it cute.)

Anyone have any big plans for today? Valentine's or Single's Appreciation Day, I mean. (I celebrated that my sophomore and freshman years of HS.)

Peace out, kiddos.

Feb 10, 2010

This writing group thing is insane.

Two weeks ago, I pretended to be Malena Mörling.
Last week, I pretended to be Walt Whitman.
This week, I'm pretending to be Ko Un.
Next week, I think I will pretend to be Louise Glück.

Then, hopefully, I'll pretend to be me... Err, I mean I will be me. ;)

In all seriousness, I'm loving it so far! It's awesome!!!

So Anders Loves Maria ended. :( Sad day. (Don't worry, that link goes to the very first one so you don't have to worry about spoilers if you're interested in reading it.)

The Superbowl is today... which is pretty fun, since I'll see all my friends and we will watch 10 Things I Hate About You, the same as every year. It's funny to think that I was there when that tradition started and... in a way, the tradition ends today. It's not like we'll be able to get together on Superbowl Sunday anymore... maybe after college. I hope so. I guess I'll just say that the tradition will be postponed after today.

What else? I'm surprising The Boyfriend by taking him to ______ __ _____ for Valentine's Day. (If you want to know, IM/facebook/whatever me, since I don't know if he has the link to this and I don't want to risk it.)

I hung out with my friend John yesterday. It was a lot of fun. We went to lunch at Steak & Shake and then back to my house to play ODST. We made inside jokes (crap-pie/seepage and leakage) and have decided we HAVE to keep hanging out. Also he made my couch smell good, haha.

Went to see Up In the Air last night. It was decent but not amazing. The acting was Oscar-worthy but the movie itself was relatively average.

Crazy Writing Project is over. It was difficult but fun. I'm thinking I'm going to come up with new CWPs from time to time and keep them in the same notebook.

Nothing else interesting to speak of. Peace out.

p.s. I forgot to mention that the tree in my front yard got cut down yesterday. I was/am really upset. I was thinking it over, and I believe it made me so sad because it's the one thing in my life that's never changed. It's always been there and it's the only thing that's remained stable for me. I could count on it. But now it's gone and that's that.

ManBabies.com

That's all I have to say for now.

Jan 28, 2010

Sorry for not posting lately. I've been busy, I've not been online much, and I just haven't really felt like it.

BUT, MY FRIENDS, THAT IS GOING TO CHANGE.

Want to know something? Next week, I'm gonna do something crazy. From Monday through Friday, I'm going to write a paragraph for every waking hour. And I've asked 10 people to keep me accountable. It's gonna be ridiculous. I think I might post some of those up here, but they're all going to start out handwritten. :)

So what's new? What's happened lately? Well I went to France and Spain for two weeks. It was the most amazing experience of my life. Barcelona is probably the most beautiful place I've ever seen. Montserrat was INCREDIBLE. I don't know what else to say about my trip. I wrote in a journal almost every day, so I may end up posting some of that here... we'll see.

I turned 17 on January 8th. WOOO. For my birthday, I got an orange iPod nano from my parents and tickets to go see The Blanks from The Boyfriend. If you've seen the show Scrubs, you probably know who the character Ted is. If you've seen enough of the show, then you know that Ted is in an A Capella group. In real life, Sam Lloyd (Ted) is in an A Capella group called The Blanks.

I'm the only girl in the picture (duh). The Boyfriend is the one in the brown coat. Sam Lloyd is the guy next to him, and we are standing with the rest of The Blanks. The man standing next to me is named Philip (I think?). He saw me come up for an autograph and this happened:

Philip: Wow, you are gorgeous!
Me: Oh thanks!
Philip: You really dressed up for our show! Your dress is so cool!
Me: Oh yeah, I got it in France.
Philip: *laughs* ... Wait, seriously?
Me: Yep.
Philip: Wow, cool! Way to bring a little class to the show!

So that was fun. I like being called pretty/having my fashion taste complimented by complete strangers. (I know, it's creepy in some situations but this was totally normal and nice.)

School started up again last Wednesday. I'm now a part of a writing group with 3 other students and my Creative Writing teacher from last semester. We write stuff all week and on Thursdays (since we do block schedule in which classes are 90 minutes and lunch is about an hour), we go off campus for lunch and read our stuff and talk about it and such. Today was our first outing, and I have to say, it was my second-favorite high school lunch ever (my first-favorite being the potluck we had at the end of my junior year). I can only hope that they just get better! :D Totally amazing (and part of the reason why I want to take on the crazy task I described at the start of this post).

So that's my life right now.

Oh and you should go watch These Movies.
